Once in a while I try to pull off a Shawn Lane ripoff part in a solo but I thought I would look at this in depth more and use what I know from reading about him, comments on Youtube about his sound/tech/etc. As mentioned in the other video I think, it is more about bursts than constant picking. And even though your fret hand thinks it is working harder, it is also about little bursts sort of like when you tap right handed. You kind of put your shoulder into it. Do the same thing with your left hand. Helps with other techniques also like hamer ons from nowhere, Yngwie/Vinnie Moore/Iomi inspired trill. Shawn went into this mode and built himself up from doing it. Don’t make your fingers and forearms do all the work. Let me know what you think if it helps you in any way to explain this. Even if you aren't out to play fast licks, I just want to share how much this has helped me physically. Just playing songs I am working on (no shred) and frustrated about not always being able to do trill when needed turned into being able to to do trilled notes no problem any time of day and in wider intervals when warming up for longer periods of time. I put a few other clips on this video (other one will probably get removed), and sorry I sort of play the same kind of stuff but I haven't tried it too much in the lower register.
